How it works

How does Dermal Fillers work

The filler is injected beneath the skin at the depth needed to lift, contour or smooth the target area, then gently shaped by the practitioner. The gel adds volume immediately and draws in water to maintain plumpness, so results are visible straight away and continue to settle over one to two weeks as any initial swelling resolves.
Hyaluronic acid is a water-loving molecule already present throughout the skin. When placed as a filler it works in several ways:
Volume restoration — physically fills and lifts the area where it is placed
Water binding — attracts and holds moisture, adding hydration and plumpness
Tissue support — provides scaffolding that supports the overlying skin
Collagen stimulation — the gel can encourage some new collagen around it over time

What to expect

Stage 01

Consultation

Every dermal filler treatment begins with a consultation. Your practitioner assesses your facial proportions and areas of volume loss, discusses your goals and what will look balanced, reviews your medical history and explains the product, amount and cost before agreeing a plan.

Yes, you see volume straight away, with the final result settling over one to two weeks as any swelling resolves.
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme injection if you are unhappy or in the rare event of a complication.
Discomfort is usually mild. Numbing cream and anaesthetic within the filler keep the treatment comfortable.
When placed appropriately, yes. The aim is balance and subtle enhancement rather than an obvious change.
