How it works

How does PDO Thread Lift work

Fine threads are inserted under the skin through a needle or cannula and gently drawn to lift and reposition the tissue. Small barbs along each thread hold the lifted position in place, giving an immediate improvement. Over the following months the threads dissolve and, as they do, stimulate the skin to produce fresh collagen, so support is maintained even once the threads have gone. The result is a subtle lift that softens over time as the collagen effect takes over.
Threads provide both a mechanical lift and a regenerative effect:
Mechanical support — barbed threads grip and reposition sagging tissue for an immediate lift
Collagen stimulation — the threads trigger new collagen as they dissolve
Tissue firming — the new collagen maintains support after the threads are absorbed
Gradual dissolving — the threads break down safely over several months

What to expect

Stage 01

Consultation

Every treatment begins with a consultation. Your practitioner assesses the degree and areas of sagging, checks whether a thread lift suits your skin or whether significant laxity would be better addressed surgically, reviews your medical history and agrees a plan before proceeding.

FAQs

Common questions

Typically twelve to eighteen months. The lift softens gradually as the threads dissolve, while the collagen they stimulate helps maintain support.
No, it is a minimally invasive procedure done under local anaesthetic, with far less downtime than a surgical face lift, though the effect is more subtle.
Expect some swelling, bruising and tightness for several days, and follow the aftercare restrictions for around two weeks.
There is an immediate lift, which may look tighter at first, settling over a couple of weeks and improving as collagen builds.
People with mild to moderate sagging and reasonable skin quality. Significant laxity is usually better treated surgically.
